Ice in ECDIS Workshop
June 2000
St. John's, Newfoundland
Captain Snider attended the international Ice in ECDIS workshop conducted in St. John's, NL, Canada in June 2000 as a representative of the Canadian Coast Guard. The purpose of the workshop was to further refine the technological and practical requirements to permit the inclusion of agreed upon ice objects for display in ECDIS equipment onboard ships. During the workshop, three breakout groups were established to discuss information overload in ECDIS, provision of ice and related data through the "information highway" and provision and integration of ice data within the ECDIS system.
